Sarah English

Sarah English is an actor, & voice and accent coach hailing from Halifax, Nova Scotia. There, she completed a Bachelor of Arts Degree (Acting, Dalhousie University). Currently based in London, UK, completing her Masters in Voice and Speech: Teaching and Coaching at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama (RCSSD), and Sarah is committed to bringing grounded and articulate work to both the stage and screen.

As a voice and accent coach, Sarah’s aim is for students to feel first and foremost that they are safe to be adventurous, and that through their learning they deepen their ability to understand their voice, and to be understood by others. With a focus on inclusive and accessible learning, Sarah brings a sense of play and embodiment to the voice technique practices and accent coaching, always remembering the actor’s intention lies at the heart of the work.

As an actor, she has appeared in both classical and contemporary work in theatres across Canada, including Juliet in Neptune Theatre's Romeo & Juliet, Macduff in Willpower Theatre's Macbeth, and the North American premiere of The Railway Children.  She also enjoys working on new Canadian works, such as How Do I Love Thee? with Angels and Heroes, as well as Two Planks and a Passion's reimagining of The Turn of the Screw by Fire and Tango Co's Summerworks hit Haunted.

Sarah produced Theatre Rhea's premiere production of Oregano by Rose Napoli in Toronto, to rave reviews. As well as performing as the lead in How Do I Love Thee? by Florence Gibson MacDonald, she was so moved by the script that she also acted as Associate Producer for Angels and Heroes for the Atlantic Canadian premiere of the play. While accent coaching and performance are her primary drives, nothing delights her more than bringing a story to life, be it on stage performing, by helping the actor find their voice, or by donning the producer’s hat and getting things done.

Sarah will be recording the 4th and final audiobook in the Aggie Morton Mystery Queen series by Marthe Jocelyn this summer with Random House Canada. The first three books are available now. She is due to complete her Masters in Voice and Speech Coaching in the fall of 2022.
